Épicerie du Monde

De vrucht van twee maanden werken in een Parijs’ atelier.
De eigenaren van de épicerie om de hoek blijken geen echtpaar te zijn, maar een broer en zus, die de winkel van hun ouders voortgezet hebben. Ik heb hen uitgenodigd te komen kijken, en ben in afwachting van hun komst.

 

 

Ik heb niets hoeven verzinnen; alles komt uit de winkel. Het werk is niet af, het moet eerst een tijdje stollen en ik heb het idee dat het nog veel groter en voller zal gaan worden. Er hangt ook van alles aan het plafond dat een plek moet krijgen.

Bovendien zijn er nieuwe plannen voor de tweede helft van mijn verblijf. Eén betreft het huis en vooral de werkkamer van André Breton zoals die voor een deel gereconstrueerd is in het Centre Pompidou en die ik als een detective aan het uitpluizen ben. Dat leidt voorlopig tot collages, maar wellicht tot een nieuw,  groot atelier-vullend werk.

Maar eerst naar Japan; morgen vlieg ik naar Tokyo waar ik zes dagen les ga geven op het Hiko Mizuno College, aan de studenten van the Jewel, Shoe, en Bag department.

The fruit of two months working in a Paris’ studio.
The owners of the épicerie around the corner turn out not to be a couple, but a brother and sister who have continued their parents’ shop. I have invited them to come and watch, and I am awaiting their coming. Everything I painted comes from the store. The work is not finished, it must first solidify for a while and I have the idea that it will become even bigger and fuller. There is also things hanging from the ceiling that need a place. In addition, there are new plans for the second half of my stay. One concerns the house and especially the study of André Breton, as part of it has been reconstructed in the Center Pompidou and which I am working on as a detective. For the time being this will lead to collages, but perhaps to a new, large studio-filling work.

But first to Japan; Tomorrow I will fly to Tokyo where I will teach six days at the Hiko Mizuno College, to the students of the Jewel, Shoe, and Bag department.
