Dat hebben ze hier goed geregeld; je flesje bijvullen met ‘eau petillante’ of lekker gekoelde ‘eau fraîche’ en dat ie het ook nog dóet, die machine. Op een vijf kilometer wandelpad op hoogte, de ‘Promenade Plantée’ langs avenue Daumesnil. Het is een voormalig treintraject tussen Bastille en Vincennes, dat in 1969 werd afgestoten. Op de plaats van het station kwam een operahuis, onder de rails winkels en werkplaatsen (zoals ‘Langs de bogen’ in Amsterdam) en het spoor werd een lommerrijk wandelpad  dat eind jaren ’80 werd ingericht. Het was de eerste. Niet vanuit een concept (niet zo speciaal in aanleg als Piet Oudolf’s High Line in New York, die de begroeiing volgt die er tussen de bielzen te vinden was), maar zeer aantrekkelijk.

On a five kilometer footpath at height, the ‘Promenade Plantée’ along avenue Daumesnil. It is a former train track between Bastille and Vincennes, which was turned down in 1969. An opera house replaced the station, shops and workshops were established under the rails and the railway became a shady footpath that was built in the late eighties. It was the first. Not from a concept (not so special as Piet Oudolf’s High Line in New York, who followed the vegetation that could be found between the sleepers), but very attractive.
